Every year, hundreds of volunteers come together dedicating countless hours to make the festival a successful event. Whether you want to gain experience as a publicist or a special events manager, Viet Film Fest offers many opportunities for you to join and build a creative community dedicated to advancing the arts. Many of our past volunteers have said how working with the Viet Film Fest changed their lives, opening their eyes to new awareness and visions of what our fast-growing network could be. At the Viet Film Fest, we are a family sharing a core mission in making artistic dreams come true.
All VFF volunteers will receive:

Volunteer Tasks
Special Events
Help coordinate the Opening and Closing Galas, and the Awards Ceremony.
Graphics & Design
Support the designing of festival’s screening promotion material.
Guest Relations
Coordinate the itinerary for the filmmakers from out of town, make information folders for all filmmakers, and prepare goodies bags for festival’s special guests.
Marketing
Primary functions include marketing and disseminating Viet Film Fest collateral within key venues and entities (community spaces, universities, etc). Marketing team makes presentations to recruit volunteers and raise awareness about Viet Film Fest. May work in collaboration with PR team.
Operations & Logistics
Primary tasks include managing the logistics, flow and timeline of VFF’s major screenings which include Opening Night (at Edwards University Cinema 6, Irvine), Spotlight Night and Closing Night, along with the respective parties/galas. Operation volunteers also manage ticket and merchandise sales, ushering and evaluation dissemination and collection.
Photography/Videography
Primary function of team is to document and highlight the festival through images and video at all festival programs including screenings, Q & As, panel discussions and special events.
Public Relations
Primary functions include disseminating festival news and updates through all mediums (TV, radio, social media) within Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese outlets. PR committee writes film reviews, press releases and interviews filmmakers and talent to promote Viet Film Fest.
Translations
Translate articles for the media, web, and festival catalog. If you are comfortable in front of an audience, there is also opportunity to be a translator at the film screenings. We need both Vietnamese-to-English and English-to-Vietnamese translators.
**Special preference for bilingual Vietnamese speakers and literacy for translation support in the areas of print media, catalog content and moderators for screenings (public speaking)**
