Using “exquisite corpse,” a method by which stories and images are collectively assembled, Nguyen Trinh Thi began her journey over the Vietnam War’s notorious Ho Chi Minh Trail. Asking local villagers to contribute their tales, the filmmaker merges reality with fiction in her search for the meaning of collective cultural memory and its relationship to ideas of space and site.
