Tony Swarthout

Tony Swarthout was born to a Dutch father and a Vietnamese mother. While growing up in San Jose, California, his mother would spend countless weekends driving him to the movie theater. Since graduating with a BA from UC Irvine in 2001, he has worked in production at Walt Disney Feature Animation. Tony has produced dozens of short films, which have been featured online at Filmgeneration.com, iFlim, and IFC’s Media Lab.

Kim Spurlock

Kim Spurlock completed her MFA in Film Production at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Before attending NYU, Kim studied anthropology in Nashville, TN, worked as a bicycle courier in Washinton, DC, and shot a documentary in Sofia, Bulgaria. She can also do a salchow.

Brittney Shepherd

Brittney Shepherd is a writer, student, educator, and dreamer. As a collective project to decolonize our bodies, our knowledge’s, our families of blood and love, and our struggle, Brittney seeks critical dialogue with others. She completed her BA in Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley and was a part of MothaBase Productions, a student group that makes advocacy films.

Antony & Fulvio Sestito

Antony and Fulvio Sestito developed an enormous passion for filmmaking from a very young age. They both studied directing at Cinecitta in their native city of Rome, Italy. In 2000, they moved to Los Angeles, California, to expand their knowledge at UCLA’s Extension Program of Film and Television. They graduated in Directing, Cinematography, and Post-Production in 2004. To date, they have written, produced and directed several narrative projects, documentaries and music videos. They live in Los Angeles.

Long-Cuu Phan

Long-Cuu Phan was born in Hong Kong in 1980. He holds a BA in American Literature from the University of California at Los Angeles. His favorite novel is The Great Gatsby. His favorite film is Happy Together. He roots for #12 & the New England Patriots. He spends his spare time eating candy. His dream is to take a bite out of crime.

Son Pham

Son Pham was born in Binh Duong and left Viet Nam in 1975. Pham first lived in Wisconsin and then settled in California. He never had the opportunity to go to film school but his passion for films and literature has always been with him while he was growing up. Pham hopes to make features in Viet Nam and America, or wherever a good story takes him.

Ron Oda

Ron Oda has never written anything before. He graduated from the University of Southern California as a business major and schooled himself at a Borders bookstore with Filmmaking for Dummies. Oda and his college friend, Kris Chin, had been talking about making a movie for 15 years, but they were always working on other projects. He spent the next eight months writing and using real life situations as inspiration for Asian Stories (Book 3).

Viet Nguyen

Viet is a writer, director, editor, musician, and actor with ambitions of someday becoming good at something. His backup plan is to become a point guard in the NBA. Viet studied film in his hometown at the University of Texas at Austin and currently works as an editor on the critically acclaimed television show, Veronica Mars.

Van Minh Nguyen

A child of Vietnamese refugees, Van Minh Nguyen was born in Oceanside, California. Growing up in San Marchos, California, Nguyen credits her artistic pathways to her ancestors’ and family’s told and untold stories. She currently resides in San Francisco, California, pursuing her soul’s passion as a media/art activist using film, poetry, dance and her spiritual studies as a Buddhist and Priestess of Yemaya as tools of expressions and healing.

Tuan Andrew Nguyen

Tuan Andrew Nguyen was born in Saigon, Viet Nam, on April 12, 1976. Tuan grew up moving from city to city throughout the southwest and western regions of the U.S., finally settling down in southern California. Tuan studied Art at the University of California, Irvine, and then moved on to receive an MFA at the California Institute of the Arts. Tuan is now based in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Ham.
