Ela Thier’s screenplay, The Wedding Cow, was produced by SWR, a major German TV network, garnering 20 awards at international film festivals including nine Best Feature and five Audience Choice awards.  Thier’s feature scripts were selected by the Independent Film Week (formerly IFP Market) for three consecutive years, with two scripts selected in 2007.  In 2006 she was commissioned to write a true-life drama and has since been offered several options.  In 2007, to promote her project, she directed excerpts from her feature, A Story for Old Lovers, starring Jay O. Sanders (JFK, Half Nelson, Day After Tomorrow) and Tony-award winner Maryann Plunkett; the project was selected by the No Borders section of the IFP market.  Thier studied film in New York University and currently teaches screenwriting workshops.  She is the recipient of a 2008 artists’ fellowship award in playwriting/screenwriting from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
