Doan La

Doan La is a writer-director based in Los Angeles. His work has screened at festivals, such as the Palm Springs International Shorts, the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, and the Pan African Film Festival, winning Best Short Film at the 2003 Hawaii International Film Festival, as well as Best Short Film at the 2001 Making Waves Film Festival. Doan has received awards from the MPAA, the Frederico De Laurentiis Memorial Award, and the Carroll Sax Award in Motion Picture and Television Production. In addition, he was a semi-finalist in the NBC Universal’s Comedy Short Cuts Festival 2006. His feature screenplay Roll Cage was a finalist for both the 2007 Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition and the 2008 Sundance Screenwriters Lab. Along with this project, Doan is developing several other features including a big-budget action/adventure for producer Barry Josephson (Enchanted, Wild Wild West). Doan received a BA in both History and Film & Digital Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Presently, he is completing a Master of Fine Arts in Directing at the UCLA School of Film, Theater, and Television.
