Bui Trung Hai

Bui Trung Hai is a director, scriptwriter, and director of photography.  Bui worked on The Reeds (1993) as the director of photography, which won first prize in the “Golden Torch” category at the International Pyongyang Film Festival in 1994 in North Korea and the Special Jury Prize at the Vietnam National Film Festival.  As a director, his short film Summer Rain (2001) was an official selection at many film festivals, including the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France and the 29th Student Academy Awards (OSCAR) in the United States.  Bui also worked as a second film director and served as the principal director of photography on the feature film Hanoi, 12 Days and Nights (2002), which won the second prize “Silver Lotus” Award at the Vietnam National Film Festival.  His first feature length film, When Autumn Sunlight Comes (2007), won the Gold Remi Award at the 41st Houston International Film Festival in 2008.
