Victor Vu’s Psychological Thriller Begins Production In Saigon

Principal photography has begun for writer/director Victor Vu’s psychological thriller “INFERNO” (Giao Lộ Định Mệnh). The film, produced by Saiga Films, a division of Star Media Group, is being shot entirely in Saigon, Vietnam.
“INFERNO” features an all-star Vietnamese cast, including: Golden Kite Award Winner TRAN BAO SON (Best Supporting Actor, The Legend is Alive), award-winning model/actress VU THU PHUONG (Cô Gái Bất Đắc Dĩ, Shanghai), TANG BAO QUYEN (Passport to Love), award-winning actor/model BINH MINH (Passport to Love, 14 Days, Cô Gái Xấu Xí) and HUA VY VAN (Saigon Love Story).
ABOUT “INFERNO”: The story centers around a man who nearly burns to death and loses his memory in a horrible car accident. As he pieces together his shattered life, he discovers the shocking truth behind his past as well as his own identity.
Victor Vu is the writer and director of such films as “PASSPORT TO LOVE” (Chuyện Tình Xa Xứ), the romantic comedy sensation that swept Vietnam and won Audience Choice and Best Supporting Actress at the 2008 Golden Kite Awards (Vietnam’s equivalent to Oscar.) He is also the co-writer and director of the horror film “OAN HỒN” (Spirits). “INFERNO” (Giao Lộ Định Mệnh) is Vu’s fourth feature film.

Saiga Films & Chanh Phuong Films are casting lead roles for writer/director Victor Vu’s newest feature film, the psychological thriller “INFERNO” - to be filmed entirely in Saigon, Vietnam, October - November 2009.
SYNOPSIS: This karmic tale of love, fate and redemption tells the story of a man who loses his memory and is nearly burned to death in a terrible car accident. As he attempts to piece together his shattered life, he unravels the shocking truth behind his own identity and the mystery surrounding his accident.

Victor Vu was born and raised in Southern California and received his bachelor’s degree in film production at Loyola Marymount University. His thesis project, a short film entitled FIRECRACKER won the Short Film Award at the Newport Beach International Film Festival as well as the Student Showcase Award at the Hamptons International Film Festival. Vu spent the next six years working in Visual Effects for Sony Pictures Imageworks and Eastman Kodak’s Cinesite Digital Studios, on such films as STARSHIP TROOPERS, CONTACT, and X-MEN 2.
In 2002, he formed the company, Strange Logic Entertainment, with producing partner Philip Silverman. Vu’s feature film debut, FIRST MORNING (Buổi Sáng Đầu Năm), received the Best Feature Film Award at the San Diego Asian Film Festival and was released by Illuminare Entertainment in 2005. His second feature film, a supernatural thriller entitled OAN HỒN (Spirits), about which Kevin Thomas of the L.A. Times labeled “an exquisite ghost story; a unique and powerful film.” This film premiered at numerous film festivals including the Bangkok International Film Festival, Singapore International Film Festival, Fantasia Montreal and was distributed by MonteCristo International.
Most recently, Vu’s production company, in association with the MonteCristo Fund LLC, completed the first episode of MYSTERIOUS WORLD (Thế Giới Huyền Bí), an anthology series of supernatural stories created by Vu. Vu is currently developing THE INFORMER, an action/thriller set in Vietnam.
