ViFF 2009

The Fourth Edition of the biennial Vietnamese International Film Festival (ViFF)

Coming to University of California, Irvine (UCI), University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and Westminster, Southern California in April 2009

Productions Eligible for Consideration:

Feature-length and short productions of any content (not necessarily related to Vietnam or Vietnamese) by persons of Vietnamese descent living anywhere around the world or productions about Vietnamese people or culture in the following categories:

• Narrative
• Documentary
• Experimental
• Animation

NO ENTRY FEE!
ENTRY DEADLINE:
Entries MUST BE POSTMARKED no later than December 31, 2008. We will announce the final selection at the end of February 2008.

ViFF’s mission is to support, celebrate, and project a diversity of visions and voices from filmmakers of Vietnamese descent and films by, for, and about the Vietnamese people and culture.

The Vietnamese International Film Festival (ViFF) is an eight-day event uniquely showcasing films made by Vietnamese and Vietnamese diasporic filmmakers. Presented biennially since 2003 by the two non-profit organizations Vietnamese American Arts & Letters Association (VAALA) and Vietnamese Language & Culture (VNLC), ViFF has featured films from all over the world, including but not limited to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Poland, United States, and Vietnam.

ViFF is held mainly at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), with some screenings at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and Westminster, Southern California. Each edition, ViFF attracts around 4,000 people coming from all over the world.

Le Festival International du Film Vietnamien permet, pendant huit jours, de diffuser auprès d’un large public des films de toute sensibilité. Organisé tous les deux ans depuis 2003 par deux associations à but non lucratif - la Vietnamese American Arts & Letters Association (VAALA) et la Vietnamese Language & Culture Association (VNLC), il a récompensé, lors de ses précédentes éditions, des films provenant du monde entier : Australie, Canada, France, Allemagne, Israël, Pologne, Etats-Unis et Vietnam.

Thông Cáo Tuyển Phim Của Đại Hội Điện Ảnh Việt Nam Quốc Tế Lần Thứ 4

Hạn chót nộp phim: 31 tháng 12, 2008

Đại Hội Điện Ảnh Việt Nam Quốc Tế (Vietnamese International Film Festival - ViFF) lần thứ 4 sẽ diễn ra tại University of California, Irvine (UCI), University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) và thành phố Westminster, Nam California vào tháng 4, 2009.

ViFF tiếp đón tác phẩm của các đạo diễn đến từ tất cả quốc gia trên thế giới với những đặc điểm:

- Phim do đạo diễn người Việt hoặc gốc Việt có thể đề cập mọi đề tài
- Phim do các đạo diễn khác phải có liên quan đến đời sống và nền văn hóa Việt Nam

Chúng tôi nhận phim (kể cả phim ngắn dưới 60 phút) ở các thể loại sau đây:

* Phim truyện
* Phim tài liệu
* Phim thử nghiệm
* Hoạt họa

Không cần đóng lệ phí. Phim phải gửi đến trụ sở ban tổ chức trước ngày 31 tháng 12, 2008.

Mục đích của Đại Hội Điện Ảnh Việt Nam Quốc Tế (ViFF) gồm hỗ trợ và quảng bá những quan điểm, tiếng nói đa nguyên của các đạo diễn gốc Việt Nam. Đại hội cũng hỗ trợ và quảng bá phim mang đề tài về con người hoặc văn hóa Việt Nam.

Đại hội kéo dài 8 ngày, đặc biệt trình chiếu tác phẩm của các đạo diễn người Việt Nam hoặc gốc Việt Nam và phim mang đề tài Việt Nam. ViFF do hai tổ chức bất vụ lợi gồm Hội Văn Học Nghệ Thuật Việt Mỹ (VAALA) và Hội Văn Hóa & Ngôn Ngữ (VNLC) tổ chức cách mỗi năm một lần kể từ năm 2003. ViFF đã trình chiếu nhiều tác phẩm điện ảnh đến từ các nước như Úc, Canada, Pháp, Đức, Do Thái, Ba Lan, Hoa Kỳ, và Việt Nam.

Hầu hết các suất chiếu phim của ViFF diễn ra tại University of California, Irvine (UCI). Một số suất chiếu sẽ được tổ chức tại University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) và thành phố Westminter, Nam California. Mỗi kỳ đại hội thu hút khoảng 4,000 người tham dự từ nhiều nơi trên thế giới.
