Coerced by his father to hunt for prey and confused about this imperative, the Prince of Death ventures out to the world of the living and pursues his victims. Yet, despite his father’s orders, he finds himself saving his prey day after day. He will face the curse of eternal damnation as a result. Only when the King of Death loses his patience and sends his army to help that the true power of love and desire emerges and prevents death to advance. On this note, there is definitely a kiss, a hot one at that.
Choosing a realistic and funny approach to a highly imaginative premise, director Nguyen Quang Dung subtly and quirkily reveals many aspects of Vietnam contemporary society. Some of these aspects are so obvious that one must be crazy to be able to see them. For those who have not encountered or
accepted the obvious, there exists a relentless dichotomy of binary conflict; that is, the power that
carries out death upon the living, and the power of the living to use the death for its own agenda. Can death control the living, or is it the living who allow death to control them?
