Life Out of a Stone is a story of sweat and tears. This film is about
cleverness and how the women of poor families in a remote countryside
in Kien Giang, An Giang province attempt to survive in the context of
bleak economic and social currents. Idealists believe that with
socio-economic development, people’s lives in the countryside will be
better. In fact, however, poverty follows them and forces them to
live in different places in the country. Day or night, rain or shine, and
sometimes afflicted with illness, they still carry stones on their heads
and carve tons of stones in order to have two meals for themselves and
their families.
